Level Three. Advanced Practice. Part III.

I liked the approach of David Hockney in his painting. I did earlier research on ” A Closer Winter Tunnel” and a “Late Spring Tunnel’ 2006, oil on six canvases. Below is my work, where I borrowed his paintings by individual blocks on one of six canvases. Here, I make a trial of my first compositional decision for the project. I placed the trees’ crown pieces and pencilled in the flowers I had worked on earlier.

Then I went to 6 pieces. I used office scotch tape and attached all 6 pieces together creating a working space for me.

Tried different options with a lower flower piece – above and below.

Pulled the flower element a little bit down to decrease its size.

Then I tried the element with a small white tree in the middle.

I like the overall look because it is interesting to stare at it. The soft green masses and shadows on each piece, especially from left to right, became layers. That effect reminded me of the traditional Japanese compositional approach below.

Below, you can see how I started to bring the blank lower prices in unity with the previous development on the upper part.

I will simultaneously work on two options above and below when the centre upper pieces differ.
