In this post I allocate my additional drawing I did within the Painting 1 course which are quite experimental in terms of the technique and the overall artistic approach. I deliberately pushed myself towards non conventional way of landscape painting being influenced my the book I have read for my book review assignment for this course “The Landscape Now” by Barry Schwabsky, who introduced me to a very inclusive selection of contemporary artists with very versatile artistic approach for landscape as a genre.
Below is my drawing “Le soleil” which I did using acrylic and wtercolours. I implemented a technique described in the book on the photo below “Dynamic Watercolours” by Jane Betterridge. I used a piece of stretched kitchen film, which I chaotically covered with a gold colour acrylic paint and placed on the white drawing paper to obtain chaotically allocated stains of gold pigment.
Then I worked with my Sennellier watercolours set for blue sky, yellow sun which I felt like dispersed all over the sky. The green stems I wanted to make kind of melting and tired on the heat of the sun. I must say that I found the aquarelle paper by Hahnemuhle as of much better quality comparing to Canson, it is much more resistant to my endless and continuous layers of water and pigments: it it very resilient and doesn’t thin out.

My another work of landscape painting in abstract manner: I am very fascinated with all the greenery in the garden. My Fig tree` s leaves are very graphic to me. They catch the sun creating interesting shadows and I found the dialogue between different shades of green and a very pure sky -blue colours as very attractive and intriguing. I work with my Sennelier watercolours set.
