“Your Practice Plan maps out the process you decide to take to reach a public presentation of your work.”

To develop the Practice Plan (PP), we have to focus on what concrete steps we should take to reach the public and showcase our work, as well as reflect on what skills we need to develop.  I copied below the table I made at the beginning of the Part One, so I can refer to it.

Practice Plan

  • Produce five more artworks for the exhibition theme, the working title “The Garden Vibration” April-May-June.
  • Establish my online presence as a visual artist. I have to open and run a new website in April.
  • Establish Google optimisation search settings for my website.
  • Collaborate with local high-end furniture stores and real estate agencies to promote the planned exhibition. April/May/June
  • Find and book a venue for the exhibition. I will probably showcase around 6-8 pieces (the three I have). Preliminary: I can schedule the exhibition for mid-June or the end of July when I expect most people will be able to attend. April/May
  • design invitation cards: virtual and printed in paper. May
  • Complete the guests’/invitees’ list, plan the virtual invitation campaign as well as define who will receive the printed invitations. May/June
  • Craft the artist’s statement for the exhibition booklet and the website; latest – end of May
  • Obtain two proffesional critical reviews to include in the booklet and place on the website.
  • Create the virtual and printed exhibition booklet. latest by the end of May
  • Find the most suitable virtual art exhibition platforms and establish a good connection with them.
  • Approach a local radio show with a talk about my practice. April
  • Check the legal aspects such as terms of the consignment agreement with any venue that will allow me to showcase and sell my artwork.
