This week I worked on my monochrome project of pomegranates studies in which I tried to learn a “Grisaille technique”. I used oil paints: a “Blanc de Titane” from AMT, “Noir d `Ivoire” from Le Franc Bourgeois and a special paper for oil painting. To learn this technique I watched a following tutorials in Youtube:
”How to paint a Grisaille Underpainting” , lesson 5, Oil Painting for Beginners on Suvim Arts channel; “Indirect oil painting techniques: part 1- the Grisaille Underpainting; Florent Farges -arts channel. “Alla Prima brushwork démo & more”-Ep.9 Oil Painting Q&A with Mark Carder.
For this still life project I found a pair of very pale coloured skin pomegranates in the supermarket with interesting stems and leaves. I pout them together under my artificial light on a dinner napkin. I also used a new medium “Green for oil” from Sennellier. It was good, however it was not meant for fast drying what made me to wait longer than I expected to be able to continue to put my further layers I needed to do according to the tutorials.
