Today I post one of my final assignments – a figure study of a seated model using line. My model was a 13 years old girl while she was practising her guitar. I found her figure’s lines and overall pose as very appropriate for this assignment because they were very soft, feminine and touching, what can be expressed with a line. I used an A1 paper, HB pencil and I did finishing with my Fabre Castle ink pen. I did an initial drawing with an HB pencil and then I was opting between oil pastel crayons and ink with a brush. I thought that the oil crayons were not good for this particular image because their line was too harsh and it`s structure was uneven what altogether would change the mood of the image. I finally decided to do my lines with an ink pen which outlined the softness of the image, it also gave an interesting ”cartoon” effect, which I like. In this assignment I was very challenged in terms of creating a prortionate figure, especially legs, arms holding guitar and the expression of the face.
PS: I apologise for different format of my text above, it somehow changed and I cant make it even.
