Today I draw a pine tree which is on my photos in my previous post. I used A4 paper and coloured pencils. I found this combination of tools as a perfect duo of implementing the task: working on texture of the stem, brunches and leaves. I also tried to paint it with oil, but the result is far from good, so I don’t even post it yet here. Below is my work pencils. The first photo is a final product: fragment of my pine tree and its brunches.

I also did sketching bamboo stems and leaves with blue ink. I find the blue ink for my bamboo as creative, giving the bamboo some special mood. Below is my work in progress. For sketching I have reviewed images of different Chinese paintings of bamboo and some bamboos I found in the garden of Jardin Exotique in Monaco. My first sketch I did last night and I made a second one next morning. As you will see below they do look quite different. I find “morning” sketch better in terms of stems – they are more delicate, thinner and stronger. It is quite a challenge to draw a strong, flexible and straight line of bamboo stem. On both sketches I struggled with bamboo leaves, even though their shape is quite simple, but I am not completely happy how I manage with them
